There comes a time in a child’s life (well at least it does in the son or daughter of a climber!) when they make the break from a full body harness to a conventional sit harness. Come the fateful day, the Tom Cat is, dare we suggest, the perfect option.
This neat little harness has virtually all the same features as the top of the range Renegade. This means the same floating waist system, ensuring a comfortable fit and correct positioning of the gear loops. It also means the same rounded off, low profile buckles, with a huge amount of adjustment – the latter point being especially useful given the alarming speed that kids grow.
The only thing they really had to change was the number of gear loops. Somehow two seemed more appropriate than the seven you get on a Renegade!
“My son was beaming with pride when I bought him a Tom Cat harness. To him this was a defining moment: a proper grown up’s harness, and boy was he happy! I was more impressed by the fact that he could put it on without any help – all I had to do was tie him in and check the buckle was properly synched. The shaped leg loops keep their shape, making it easy for him to unravel when I chuck it over to him at the bottom of the crag.”
